A train crossing the railroad on the Øresund Bridge

The Railway

The Øresund Bridge's double-track railway connects to the Swedish and Danish railway networks at Lernacken and Kastrup. The section between Lernacken on the Swedish coast and Copenhagen Airport Kastrup is managed by the Øresund Bridge Consortium.

On the artificial island of Peberholm, there is a system boundary that handles the transition between the Swedish and Danish railway technical systems. A mobile Swedish-Danish system transition component has been developed to allow the transition between systems to occur while trains pass at full speed.

The railway covers a total of approximately 34 track kilometers. The entire track installation on the coast-to-coast part of the Øresund connection is built for speeds up to 200 kilometers per hour.

The Øresund Bridge railway has two signaling systems: one for the Swedish part and one for the Danish part.
