Travel safe
Safety at the Øresund Bridge exceeds that of most motorways owing to our advanced equipment and specially trained personnel. Even so, it is imperative that motorists themselves contribute to a safe journey for everyone.
You are not alone
Whether on the bridge itself or in the tunnel, you are never alone. Traffic is monitored 24/7 by personnel at the toll station's traffic centre. Monitoring is carried out manually by cameras as well as automatically through a number of measurement devices and sensors positioned throughout the link. You can help
- Make sure you have enough fuel before you set out
- Tune the radio to FM 93.9, 96.5 or 102.0 for traffic information
- Observe the speed limits
- Keep extra distance to the vehicle ahead in the tunnel
- Always follow the directions on the signs
- Be acquainted with the location of emergency telephones and exits
Emergency telephones and exits
On the bridge and on the island of Peberholm, emergency telephones are located at 650m intervals. You will automatically be connected to an alarm centre when you lift the receiver. The %uFF98resund Bridge's traffic centre will also monitor the call to assess whether traffic should be redirected. In the tunnel there is only 88m between the emergency telephones located on the right wall in the emergency panels which also contain a fire extinguisher and a fire-alarm button.
On the opposite side of the emergency panels are green emergency exit doors for use in the event of a fire or major accident. The green doors lead to an escape tunnel, which runs parallel to the motorway. On the bridge, there are emergency stairs connecting the two bridge decks.
If your car breaks down
- Stop the car on the right of the carriageway and switch on your warning lights.
- Driver and passengers should leave the car and walk to the nearest emergency phone.
